FAQ
Yes, we are fully insured.
We are based out of the town of Goshen and we serve Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan counties.
First, we sand the walls, creating a smooth surface. Second, we clean the walls and de-gloss any glossy surfaces to maximize the adhesion of new paint. Third, we repair the walls, filling any nail holes or dings we can find.
Only once the first three steps are complete are ready to paint the walls, creating a solid base for the second coat.
At this point we sand the walls again, patch anything we may have missed, and then put on a second coat of paint, making everything look new.
The answer is, it depends. We understand that some projects will require that we use a type of paint or color previously used.
However, considering the discounts we receive on high quality paint, it usually works out best for everyone to just go with that option.
The paints we use most often, and what we usually recommend are:
Walls – Sherwin Williams Duration with a Matte sheen.
Trim – Sherwin Williams Emerald Trim Enamel with a Semi-Gloss sheen.
Ceilings – Sherwin Williams Premium Ceiling Paint which comes in a Flat sheen.
There are some situations in which you may choose not to put on two coats of paint on everything. However, it is usually recommended for a couple of reasons.
First, is coverage. A paint rarely covers a surface completely in one coat, creating an imperfect color and sheen. Two coats will ensure that the color and sheen are uniform.
Second, is durability. While even a single coat of paint can significantly improve the look of a room, it’s not thick enough to last a long time or stand up to ongoing wear and tear. Two coats dries much thicker and will last significantly longer.
Included in the price will always be some minimal repair work, filling nail holes and dings, etc. If there are any larger repairs needed, such as water damage or drywall cracks, we can discuss the cost of repair during our walkthrough when giving a quote.
That being said, we don’t undertake major drywall replacement or repairs, nor do we do any repairs on plaster.
Yes, but with a few cautions. First, a simple rag with water is usually best to clean walls. If you have to use something more abrasive, do so with care.
Second, magic erasers damage paint and sheens, so we recommend to not use them.
Third, fresh coats of paint should not be scrubbed in any way for the first 90 days. While paint may seem completely dry after a few hours, in reality, it takes 60-90 days to fully cure, or harden.
